Reporting directly to the Operations & HR Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind TLM’s HR compliance, staff training & development, and recruitment processes, ensuring a culture of growth, faith alignment, and organisational success.

The Role – HR & Compliance Coordinator
 
 
The HR & Compliance Officer is a pivotal position within The Leprosy Mission Australia, ensuring the efficient and legally compliant management of human resources operations, aligned with our Christian vision, mission, and values. This role involves supporting the Operations & HR Manager in managing policies, employee relations, compliance with Australian workplace laws, and fostering an inclusive and positive workplace culture. You will be actively involved in all stages of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, training, staff engagement, and retention initiatives.

  • Support recruitment efforts like a pro - from job postings to interviews and onboarding.
  • Take charge of training and professional development initiatives.
  • Be the driving force in performance reviews and staff engagement activities.
  • Maintain secure personnel records, including compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian workplace laws and implement relevant policies.
  • Deliver training on compliance topics! Including safeguarding and workplace behaviour.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture that aligns with TLMA’s Christian values.
  
Your Skills and Attributes   

  • Strong understanding of TLMA's Christian-based beliefs, vision, mission, and values.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in HR coordination and compliance, ideally in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Australian labour laws, WHS legislation, and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Strong time management, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • High attention to detail, initiative, and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in HR information systems (e.g., Employment Hero) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to leverage digital tools and platforms to optimise processes and achieve business objectives.
