Head of Education and Acumen - The Royal Australian Institute of Architects

About the Role:
The Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) is seeking a visionary Head of Education to lead and transform its education portfolio. This key role will drive the strategic direction of RAIA’s educational offerings, focusing on delivering innovative programs and ensuring the continuous development of architectural professionals across Australia. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of architectural education, from professional development programs to knowledge resources, while driving RAIA’s position as the premier provider of architectural education in Australia.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and execute the strategic direction for RAIA’s education portfolio, ensuring member value through innovative programs and digital solutions.
  • Drive the growth and sustainability of educational offerings, including CPD programs, Acumen notes, and professional development content.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with industry leaders, corporate partners, universities, registration boards, and CPD providers.
  • Enhance the Acumen production offering, ensuring high-quality content and relevancy to the architectural profession.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge management system for member resources.
  • Deliver value to RAIA members through modern, industry-relevant educational content and programs.
  • Ensure RAIA remains the top choice for architectural education in Australia.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the GMMO, ELT, chapter leaders, corporate partners, and educational institutions.
Experience & Attributes:
  • Postgraduate qualification in Adult Education, Instructional Design, or a related discipline. Certification in Knowledge Management (desired). Digital Content Strategy certification (desired).
  • Significant experience leading professional education services and/or educational technology, particularly within the built environment or membership organizations.
  • Strong track record of strategic program development, delivery, and innovation in education.
  • Expertise in content management systems, learning management systems, and knowledge bases.
  • Experience in digital content strategy and instructional design, particularly in the context of CPD and adult learning.
  • Proven experience in technical writing, documentation, and content accessibility standards.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with keen attention to detail.
  • Passion for advancing education and innovation in the built environment.
