Job Description

Who we are.

Sydney Region Aboriginal Corporation (SRAC) is seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Early Childhood to lead our Doonside Aboriginal Child and Family Centre.

This is a wonderful opportunity to help establish a 37-place childcare centre from birth up to six, from the ground up, with the support of the SRAC team. Play an important role in shaping the lives of Aboriginal children and families, within a supportive, culturally rich environment. Join a community-driven organisation that values resilience, connection, and self-determination.

Focus of the role.

In this role, you’ll provide leadership and guidance in delivering high-quality early education and support services, ensuring cultural safety and guiding a person-centred educational program. You’ll play a key role in empowering Aboriginal families and children, while contributing to SRAC’s mission to address disparities in education, health, and wellbeing.

What you will bring.

  • Lead a passionate team in delivering culturally appropriate care and education for Aboriginal children, with a focus on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS).
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with families, empowering parents and enhancing outcomes for children.
  • Oversee curriculum planning, implementation, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Manage daily operations, ensuring regulatory compliance while driving continuous service improvement.
  • Integrate Aboriginal ways of knowing and doing into all educational practices to support children’s cultural growth.

Key Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of experience in a Centre Director role within an early childhood setting.
  • A genuine passion for Aboriginal early childhood education and a commitment to delivering high-quality care in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • ACECQA-approved Diploma of Children's Services or Bachelor of Teaching/Education (Early Childhood).
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in staff development and team management.
  • Completed accredited training in Child Protection legislation and its implications for the care and protection of children.
  • Strong understanding of EYLF, NQS, and experience developing Quality Improvement Plans (QIP).
  • Exceptional communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Current Working with Children Check, First Aid certification, and other relevant qualifications.

Offering:
  • Up to $110k + superannuation + salary packaging (dependent on experience)
  • On-site parking and public transport options
  • Full-time, permanent employment
  • Employee Benefits program

If you’re ready to make a meaningful difference, we’d love to hear from you!

A preference will be given to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants. Exemption is claimed under Section 21 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
